2. Jack up the front of the vehicle and securely place it on axle supports.
3. Turn the steering wheel from lock to lock several times. Check the fluid level again and top up if necessary.
4. Start the engine and let it run at no more than 1000 rpm. Turn the steering wheel again from lock to lock (three or four times) and check the fluid level again.
On E28 (retro) models, depress the brake pedal five or six times before turning the steering wheel. When the fluid level stops dropping, continue turning the wheel from lock to lock until no more air bubbles appear in the fluid.
5. Lower the vehicle to the ground. Start the engine and turn the wheels from lock to lock several times again. Check the fluid level. Set the wheels straight ahead.
