Warning: Do not change the wheel before leaving the road: here you risk being hit by another car. On a busy highway, stop at the side of the road. When changing a wheel, be careful of passing vehicles as your attention may be reduced while working.
Preparation for work
In the event of a puncture, stop as soon as possible.
Stop, if possible, on level ground with firm ground and away from passing traffic.
Turn on the hazard warning lights if necessary.
If you have a warning triangle, put it up to warn other drivers of your accident.
Engage first or reverse gear (on models with automatic transmission, set the selector to the Park position) and apply the parking brake.
Chock the wheel on the other side of the car diagonally across from the one being replaced. A block for this purpose is stored in the luggage compartment. In the absence of a special block, you can use the material at hand - a large stone or brick.
On soft ground, place a board under the jack.
Wheel replacement
1. The spare wheel and tools are stored in the luggage compartment. Raise the mat and remove the tools and jack.
2. Turn away a wing nut, take a pressure plate and take out a spare wheel.
3. Unscrew the wing nut and remove the pad for the pop wheel lining from the rear panel of the luggage compartment. Put this shoe in front or behind (depending on the situation) under the wheel diagonally opposite to the one being replaced.
4. Remove the wheel wrench from the trunk. It can be located in the trunk lid or in the floor.
5. Remove the cap or hub cap from the wheel to be replaced, then loosen the wheel bolts by half a turn each. If the wheel bolts are specially designed against theft, use the adapter supplied with the tool to loosen them.
6. Position the jack at the designated jacking point closest to the wheel being replaced. Raise the head of the jack so that it fits into the corresponding recess in the body.
7. Make sure the jack is on firm ground, then turn the jack handle clockwise until there is clearance between the wheel and the ground. Loosen the wheel bolts and remove the wheel. Install the spare wheel and screw in the bolts. Lightly tighten the bolts with a wrench and lower the vehicle to the ground.
8 Tighten the bolts securely in the order shown, then install the cap. Stow the damaged wheel and tools in the luggage compartment and secure them. Keep in mind that at the first opportunity, the wheel bolts must be loosened and tightened to the required torque (see technical data in chapter 1).
In conclusion...
Remove the wheel chocks.
Hide the jack and tools in space 8 in the trunk.
Check the pressure in a newly installed tire. If the pressure is too low, or if you do not have a pressure gauge with you, drive slowly to the nearest garage or repair shop and restore the correct pressure to the tire.
Repair the damaged tire as soon as possible.
