Checking the slave disk status (BMW 5 Series E12)
When the clutch is operating normally, the thickness of the driven disc can be checked directly on the vehicle.
Place the car on a lift and move the clutch release fork forward by hand until it stops. With a new driven disk, the stroke "A" (see photo) of the fork is 19 mm. If the stroke is less than 5 mm, replace the driven clutch disk.
The check is carried out in a similar manner using the 7061 template inserted between the clutch housing and the clutch slave cylinder. The template should move to the stop without any gap. If the gap between the template support surface and the clutch slave cylinder has reached 5 mm, replace the driven disk.
