Attention! When carrying out AB maintenance, take increased fire safety measures. AB electrolyte is a solution of sulfuric acid, dangerous for the skin and paint surfaces. When disconnecting the battery, always disconnect first «-» wire and connect it last.
When carrying out TO AB, you should remove the covers and check the electrolyte level in each of its jars. It should be about 5 mm higher than the plates. If the level is lower, add distilled water and close the jar lids.
- Check the integrity of the rubber protective covers of the AB terminals and the AB case. When traces of corrosion are found (loose white coating) brush it off with a wire brush. The appearance of corrosion can be minimized by installing oiled felt washers or by applying to terminals and clamps (after installing them) acid-free vaseline.
- Check the condition of the pallet for battery BMW X5 E53. Remove corrosion from the pan with an aqueous solution of baking soda. The applied soda solution, after a temporary exposure, rinse with plenty of clean water.
- Check the tightness of the clamp bolt. When installing battery, do not overtighten the mounting clamp.
