Depending on the model, the battery may be located in the engine compartment, in the rear cargo area, or under the rear seat. Consult your vehicle's owner's manual for battery location.
If your vehicle's radio has an anti-theft system, make sure you know the correct activation code before disconnecting the battery. Refer to Section 1 for information before disconnecting the wire Anti-theft audio system and instrument cluster language.
If a message in another language appears on the instrument cluster display after connecting the battery, refer to Section 1 for the language setting procedure Anti-theft audio system and instrument cluster language.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the positive battery cable.

3. Remove the battery clamp bracket and remove the battery. Be careful - the battery is heavy. Do not tilt the removed battery and keep it straight. Always disconnect the negative cable from the battery first, then the positive cable; to remove the clamp bracket, unscrew the nuts (shown by arrows) and one bolt.

On some models, the battery is mounted under the rear seat.
4. Once the battery is removed, inspect the base (pan) for corrosion (see chapter Routine car maintenance).
5. If the battery is being replaced, make sure that the new one is identical to the previous one, has the same dimensions, operating current, frost resistance, and so on.
6. Installation is the reverse of removal.
