Removal and installation the handbrake lever (BMW 5 Series E39)

Removal

Remove the center console.



Completely unscrew the 2 lock nuts and 2 adjusting nuts of the handbrake cable "arrows".



Disconnect the electrical wire "1" of the handbrake switch.

Unscrew the arrow mounting bolts and remove the handbrake lever.

Installation

Insert the handbrake cable into the lever, insert the handbrake lever and tighten it with bolts.

Tighten the handbrake cable nuts firmly by hand.

Adjust the handbrake.

Turn on the ignition. When the lever is released, the parking brake indicator should not light. If this is not the case, adjust the switch accordingly.

Install the center console.
