Examination
If the brake light does not come on, check the fuse first. Then check the incandescent bulbs. If the corresponding pumps are OK, check the brake light switch.
Remove footwell trim (above the pedal).
Disconnect the plug from the brake light switch by compressing the locking tabs.
Turn on the ignition.
Connect both contacts of the disconnected plug with a short jumper. If the brake light now comes on when the brake pedal is depressed, replace the brake light switch.
Withdrawal
Remove trim for left footwell.
Compress the locking tabs and disconnect the wire with the plug from the switch.
Press the brake pedal. Push the pusher -1- and the sleeve -2- fully forward (arrow at position 3).
In this position, press the locking tabs -arrows- and pull the brake light switch out of the holder towards the rear (position 4).
Installation
Insert the switch with the sleeve completely removed into the holder on the brake pedal bracket and fix it.
Press the red safety sleeve into the switch so that the shoulder of the sleeve lies against the pedal bracket.
Connect the plug to the switch and fix it.
Check if the brake light comes on when the ignition is on and the brake pedal is depressed.
Install footwell trim.
