Remote control radio: replacing batteries (BMW 5 Series E39)

Replace the batteries if the self-diagnosis results in the message Funk-schliissel-Batt. (Power element in the car key).

Caution: If replacing batteries takes more than one minute, the radio remote control then you need to install.

Use a small screwdriver to pry the key cover off.

Remove 2 screws and remove the battery cover.

When replacing, use batteries of the same type (CR1220) and observe the polarity (+/). Install the new batteries in the same way as the previous ones.

Screw the battery cover on with screws. The key cover should close with a distinctive click.

If necessary, reinstall the radio remote control.
