Diagnostics of faults of the petrol injection system (BMW 5 Series E39)

Before detecting a fault based on diagnostics, the following prerequisites must be met: conditions for the occurrence of errors during starting are excluded. Both for a cold and a warmed-up engine, the following applies: do not press the accelerator pedal during starting, disengage the clutch.

There should be fuel in the tank, the engine is mechanically sound, the battery is charged, the starter rotates at a sufficient speed, the ignition system is in order, there are no leaks in the fuel system, fuel system contamination is excluded, the crankcase ventilation system of the engine is in order, electrical connections are grounded (engine - gearbox - body) available. Read the contents of the fault code memory (workshop work).

Caution: If the fuel line fasteners are loosened, the fuel lines must first be cleaned using cleaning agents or gasoline.
