Table of contents: Removal ↓ Installation ↓
New valve injectors are coated with a preservative lubricant. After five minutes of operation, this lubricant is washed away by the fuel flow. Due to the risk of corrosion, used valve injectors cannot be stored for a long time.

Warning: Fire hazard, no smoking. Fuel supply system is under pressure. Collect leaking fuel with a rag. Loosen clamps and disconnect fuel supply hose "1" first (coming from the fuel filter), then the fuel outlet hose "2" from the distribution manifold. After loosening the clamps, always replace them with new ones.

Note: On some models, the fuel supply line is screwed directly to the distribution manifold. In this case, the sealing ring must always be replaced with a new one during installation and lubricated with technical petroleum jelly.

Another possible implementation is to fasten the hoses with clamps. In this case, a special BMW tool 161050 is required to release the clamps. Check the sealing ring before installation, replace the damaged ring.

Pre-lubricate sealing rings "1" with Vaseline or SAE 90 transmission oil.

Insert the valve injectors complete with the distribution manifold into the cylinder head.

Caution: When installing the valve injectors, make sure that the sealing rings "1" are not damaged. Replace damaged sealing rings, paying attention to the installation position of the sealing ring "3". Lubricate the sealing rings "1" only with Vaseline or transmission oil before stopping.

Tighten the 2 fuel distribution manifold mounting bolts.

Connect the fuel hoses to the fuel rail and secure them with new clamps or O-rings, see "Removal".

Place the plug cover on the valve injectors.

Install and secure both engine covers, tighten the oil filler cap.

Read the contents of the DMe system fault code memory. After troubleshooting, erase the memory contents.
