Checking the Temperature Sensor
Disconnect the plug from the respective sensor.
Connect an ohmmeter to the sensor contacts.
Measure the resistance and compare it with the prescribed value. Depending on the temperature value, intermediate resistance values are possible. Prescribed values see here.
If the resistance does not match the prescribed value, remove the sensor.
Suspend the temperature sensor with a wire and lower it into a bath of water up to the hexagon on the body so that the sensor does not touch the walls of the vessel. First, cool the water in the vessel with pieces of ice, and then heat it on the stove. Remove the sensor at the specified temperatures and measure its resistance between the contacts. Replace temperature sensor if necessary.
If the temperature sensor is OK, connect a voltmeter between the sensor plug and ground.
Turn on the ignition. The prescribed voltage value is approximately 5 volts. If there is no voltage, check the continuity of the wire.
If present, check continuity of ground wire.
If the wires and the temperature sensor are in order, a malfunction of the control unit can be assumed.
Removing the coolant temperature sensor
So that when the sensor is removed, the coolant does not drink out, it must first be partially pour into a suitable container.
Remove the engine cover from the intake manifold and disconnect the hose from the cylinder head cover crankcase ventilation systems.
The coolant temperature sender is located at the front of the engine block under the intake manifold -arrow-.
Disconnect the plug and unscrew the temperature sensor. The sensor signals are transmitted to the DME control unit and the display on the instrument panel.
Installation
Screw in temperature sensor with new gasket and tighten to 20 Nm.
Connect the plug and fix it with a wire clamp.
Connect to the cylinder head cover and secure the crankcase ventilation hose, install the engine cover.
Top up the coolant level and remove air from the cooling system.
Carry out a test drive and check the connection point of the temperature sensor for leaks, tighten the sensor slightly if necessary.
Read the contents of the DME fault code memory. After troubleshooting, erase the contents of the drive.
Removing the intake air temperature sensor
unscrew the mount throttle valve.
Attention: Do not disconnect the gas draft and hoses of the throttle valve heating system.
Press the lock button -arrow- on the sensor and pull it downwards out of the intake manifold. Disconnect plug from sensor.
Installation
Attach the sensor to the intake manifold.
Connect the plug and fix it with a wire clamp.
Install the throttle valve.
Fit the intake air hose and secure with a clamp.
Read the contents of the DME fault code memory. After troubleshooting, erase the contents of the drive.
