Removal and installation rear suspension arms and struts (BMW 7 Series E38)
Push Rod/Integral Lever
If the integral arm was disconnected from the rocker arm/wheel support during disassembly, the chassis parameters must be measured and/or adjusted after installation.
1. Remove the rear wheel and disconnect the drive shaft from the rear axle gearbox (see chapter Cardan and drive shafts, gearbox, differential and hub assemblies).

2. To make it easier to set the camber angle, use a punch to mark the position of the eccentric bolt in relation to the rocker arm.

3. Remove the nut and bolt. Unscrew the eccentric bolt and remove the integral lever.
4. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Replace the eccentric bolt nut.
Swinging lever
1. Remove the wheel and disconnect the ABS wheel sensor wiring (see chapter Brake system). To make it easier to set the camber angle, mark the position of the eccentric bolt in relation to the rocker arm with a punch (see illustration).

2. Loosen the eccentric bolt nut and remove it.
3. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Replace the eccentric bolt nut. Check and adjust the rear wheel alignment angles.
Upper wishbone
If the transverse suspension arm was disconnected from the rear axle beam during dismantling, then after installation the rear wheel alignment angles should be checked and adjusted.
1. Remove the rear wheel and disconnect the shock absorber from the wheel support (see section Removal and installation, disassembly and assembly of suspension strut).
2. Give the nuts.

Use new self-locking nuts when installing.
3. Clean the tapered journal and the hole in the wheel support from dirt and grease.
4. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
Stretching

1. Remove the wheel and loosen the nuts.

2. Remove the stretch.
3. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. There should be no traces of grease on the pin or in the hole. Use new nuts.
4. After installation is complete, check and adjust the rear wheel alignment angles.
