Rear light assembly (on the trunk lid) (from 09/2006) (BMW X3 E83)

Removal and installation the left or right rear light assembly (on the trunk door) (since 09/2006)

Caution: Follow the ESD protection instructions (ESD - Electrostatic Discharge).

1. Remove the trunk lid trim.



2. Loosen the nut (1), while holding the threaded studs (2) using a suitable device.

Tightening torque: 4.0±0.5 Nm.

3. Disconnect the rear light assembly (3) in the direction indicated by the arrow and remove it outward from the trunk lid (4).

4. Disconnect the connector (5).

5. Remove the cartridge casing.

Note:

• When installing, pay attention to the correct installation of the sealing washers on the studs (2) between the rear light unit (3) and the trunk lid (4).
• Pay attention to the correct position of the sealing frame on the rear light unit (3).

Note: When installing, ensure that the tabs (1) of the rear light assembly (2) are positioned exactly above the side edge of the trunk lid (3).

6. Installation should be carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the above notes.
