Replacing the left xenon headlight control unit (since 09/2006) (BMW X3 E83)

Attention:
  • When used with xenon headlights, high voltage is life-threatening. Before removal, disconnect all components from the power source (the lighting system and ignition are off).
  • Work with all components of the xenon lighting system (gas discharge initiator, control unit and lamp) should be performed only by qualified personnel.


Caution: Follow the ESD protection instructions (ESD - Electrostatic Discharge).


1. Remove the left headlight.

2. Loosen the screws (1).

Tightening torque: 1 Nm.

3. Disconnect the xenon headlight control unit (2) from the headlight.

4. Disconnect the connectors (1).

5. Remove the xenon headlight control unit (2).

Note:
  • When installing, it is necessary to pay attention to the correct position of the seal (3) on the headlight.
  • Pay attention to the correct laying of the wire harnesses.


6. Installation should be carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the above notes.
