Checking the level and topping up oil in the automatic transmission (GA 6 L 45 R) (BMW X3 E83)

Attention:
  • Only certified grades of transmission oil must be used for this automatic transmission.
  • Violation of this rule leads to serious damage to the automatic transmission.


1. Remove the exhaust system bracket (1).

3. Unscrew the plug (1) of the filling hole.

Note: When installing, it is necessary to replace the sealing ring.


4. Pour in automatic transmission fluid until it begins to overflow the edge of the filler hole.

Brand name: Dexron 6.

5. Start the engine.

7. Screw in the filler plug (1).

Tightening torque: 10 Nm.



8. Press the brake and, while idling, move the lever to each of the possible positions several times in turn. At the end, engage position "P" (parking).

9. After this, check the oil level.

1) Connect DIS BMW to the vehicle.

2) Select "Service functions".

3) Check the oil level as per instructions.
