Replacing moldings

The moldings are secured to the body elements with plastic brackets.

1. Separate the molding by hand or with a wide plastic wedge.

2. As a rule, when separating moldings, the plastic fillers are removed together with the brackets. Therefore, first remove the bushings from the pins and insert them into the holes of the corresponding body elements.

3. Straighten any bent moldings before reinstalling them.

4. Then straighten the molding with staples and fix it in accordance with the holes. If necessary, insert the pins with palm strikes.

5. Separate the model's brand emblem from the body using a thin nylon thread (fishing line) and remove. To make it easier, lubricate the thread with detergent and attach wooden blocks to both ends. Heat the emblem slightly with a hair dryer.

6. Remove any remaining adhesive with alcohol or a cleaner such as 3M Adhesive Cleaner.

7. Heat the new emblem with a hair dryer to a temperature of about +50°C, remove the protective paper, straighten it and press it firmly for about 10 seconds.

8. Carefully remove the BMW emblem with a screwdriver, placing a cloth underneath to protect the paintwork.

9. For better adhesion, apply body sealant under the emblem before installation.
