Disposal of the gas-filled stop
If a gas-filled strut is being replaced, the old strut must be degassed before it is disposed of. To do this, the stop must be clamped in a vice in the region of X = 50 mm.
The stop must be clamped precisely in this place, otherwise there is a danger! Then it is necessary to saw through the cylinder in the first third of its total length, counting from the base edge on the rod side. To collect spilled oil, the cut area must be covered with a rag. In addition, protective goggles must be worn during cutting.
