Withdrawal
Remove the brake caliper and hang it on the wire on the body.
Caution: The brake hose remains connected, otherwise you will then have to bleed the brake hydraulics.
Unhook the wires of the ABS system and the wear sensors of the pads from the mounts and disconnect them.
Loosen the nut and remove the bar from the anti-roll bar while holding the stud with an open end wrench.
Disconnect the tie rod joint from the steering knuckle arm.
Check to see if the marks made at the factory indicating the position of the suspension strut are visible. If they are not visible, you need to put a mark, which is a continuation of the groove of the support.
Support the suspension strut at the bottom with a jack so that it does not fall after removing the upper mounting nuts.
Loosen the lower strut nut and remove the bolt.
Unclench the steering knuckle clamp and secure it in this position. In the workshop, a special device is used for this.
Pry off and remove the shock absorber cover.
If so, separate the plug connection of the electronic suspension control system on the suspension strut mount.
Unscrew the three mounting nuts on the body where the suspension strut is attached.
Push the steering knuckle down with the lever (1), for example, with an extension for the caps, until the suspension strut folds out so that it comes out of the wheel arch.
Attention: An assistant is needed for this work. Be careful not to damage the wheel arch. Better cover the wing with a protective blanket (2). If necessary, remove the lower casing of the engine mudguard.
Use a large screwdriver or pry bar to pry the shock strut out of the steering knuckle.
Attention: Do not pull the rack out of the knuckle with a twisting motion. This can cause radial scratches that damage the suspension strut.
Installation
Insert the suspension strut into the steering knuckle so that the applied alignment mark coincides with the groove in the steering knuckle.
Carefully insert the suspension strut into the wheel arch and tighten the nuts securing it to the housing to 20 Nm.
If equipped, connect the plug of the electronic suspension control system and put on the cap.
Establish a cover on an amortization rack casing.
Press the steering knuckle up with a jack until it stops, while paying attention to the alignment mark on the rack.
Insert the clamping bolt and tighten the new self-locking nut to 80 Nm.
Establish steering draft on a rotary fist.
Put the wheels in the straight ahead position.
Install the stabilizer bars and tighten the new self-locking nuts to 60 Nm.
Connect the ABS and pad wear sensor wires and insert them into the clamps.
Install the brake caliper.
