The airbag system deploys when the force of a frontal collision exceeds a preset value (depending on the direction of impact). At the same time, the airbag instantly inflates in thousandths of a second) and forms a protective barrier between the driver, passengers and body parts. After that, the gas from the pillow is released almost instantly.
Each time the ignition is switched on, the safety system control unit performs a self-diagnosis. It lasts approximately 2-6 seconds and the system warning light on the instrument panel lights up. When the self-diagnosis is completed, the lamp goes out. If the lamp does not light up at all or does not go out after performing a self-diagnosis, or spontaneously lights up while the vehicle is moving, then the system is faulty. Contact your dealer as soon as possible to diagnose it.
Attention! Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal and wait at least 10 seconds before servicing the airbag system. During this time, the capacitors of the system will have time to discharge. After completing the service, make sure that no one is in the car, then connect the battery.
- Please note that airbags must not be exposed to temperatures above 90°C. Once the airbag has been removed, the way it is stored must prevent unintended deployment.
- Do not allow solvents or detergents to come into contact with the pillow assembly. It should only be cleaned with a damp cloth.
- Pillows and the control unit are sensitive to blows. If dropped or damaged, they must be replaced.
- Disconnect the wiring connector of the system control unit before performing electric welding on the vehicle.
