If your vehicle's radio is equipped with an anti-theft system, make sure you enter the correct code before disconnecting the battery.

If the instrument cluster displays the wrong language after connecting the battery, refer to Section Anti-theft audio system and instrument cluster language, which describes the procedure for installing the required language.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Drain the cooling system (see chapter Routine car maintenance).

3. Remove the center console (see chapter Body). Cover the floor mats in the front of the car with an old blanket; this will protect them from stains if any coolant residue is spilled.

Removal

1. Disconnect the electrical connectors of the temperature sensor.

2. Remove the straps holding the wiring to the shroud and move the wiring to the side.

3. Open the cover fasteners.

4. Loosen the screws securing the cover and remove the cover.

5. Disconnect all heater line fittings from the heat exchanger. Be careful, as some coolant may spill out.

6. First lift the right side of the heat exchanger and remove it.

Installation

Always use new O-rings when connecting the coolant hoses to the heater core.

Install in reverse order. Fill the cooling system (see chapter Routine car maintenance), then start the engine with the heater on and check the operation of the heater and the presence of leaks.
