Fuel Shut-Off Device — Checking, Removing and Installing (BMW 7 Series E32)
The electromagnetic shut-off device on the fuel injection pump opens the way for fuel when the ignition is turned on. It should be checked if the engine does not start or continues to run after the ignition is turned off.
Turn the ignition on and off several times. The solenoid valve should click loudly enough.
If this does not happen, disconnect the wire. Using an auxiliary wire, connect the valve to the positive terminal of the battery.
If the valve clicks, check the voltage supply according to the diagram and, if necessary, replace the wires or parts. If no faults are found, replace the fuel shut-off device valve.
When working with the injection system, observe cleanliness and safety regulations.
After disconnecting the wire, unscrew the cut-off device (1).
Remove the piston and spring of the solenoid valve and insert them into the new device. Pay attention to the correct installation of the sealing ring.
Screw in the new cut-off device and tighten to 20 Nm. Install the wire.
