Intermediate support — removal and installation (BMW 7 Series E32)

Removal

Remove the driveshaft. Mark the relative positions of the front and rear driveshafts.

On vehicles with a sliding cardan joint driveline, loosen the clamping sleeve.

On vehicles with a cardan transmission without a sliding cardan joint, unscrew the bolt of the middle cardan joint fork.

Disconnect the front and rear propeller shafts.

On vehicles with a sliding universal joint driveline, remove the snap ring, then the boot.

Using a universal puller, remove the intermediate support assembly with the bearing from the front shaft.

Press the bearing out of the intermediate support using a press and press the new bearing into the support using a press.

Installation

Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
