Drive shaft flange seals — replacement (BMW 7 Series E32)

            0

Disconnect the drive shafts and tie them up.

Press out the shaft flange with a pry bar.

Remove the oil seal with a puller.

Before installing the shaft flange, insert the retaining ring so that both ends are immersed in the groove. This prevents the ring from deflecting to the sides. Press the driven shaft flange by hand until the retaining ring snaps into place. Replace any deformed rings.

Lubricate the seals with rear axle oil.

Drive in the seals using a bushing.
