Replacing the fuel shut-off valve (BMW 7 Series E38)

Below is a description for the M51 engine. The valve is installed under the intake manifold, in the center.


1. In the de-energized state, the piston extends under the pressure of the spring and blocks the fuel supply.

2. Remove the dust cap. Loosen the nut located under the cap and remove the pipe from the fuel shut-off valve.

3. Unscrew the shut-off valve with a 24 mm wrench.

The piston and spring may fall out.


4. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Check the correct installation and the integrity of the sealing ring, replace it if necessary.
