Removal and installation the pressure regulator and fuel distributor (BMW 7 Series E38)
Models with M57 engine
1. Cover the generator to prevent it from coming into contact with operating fluids.
2. Remove the intake manifold.

3. Clean the injection pump in the area of the pressure regulator with a cold cleaner and dry with compressed air. Disconnect the connector (1), unscrew the bolts (2) and remove the pressure regulator (3) from the housing by turning it by hand.
Do not remove the pressure regulator from the injection pump using a tool.

4. Check the correct position and integrity of the sealing rings (1) and the white support ring of the pressure regulator (2). Before installation, lubricate all sealing rings with clean diesel fuel.
5. Press the pressure regulator by turning it by hand clockwise into the high-pressure fuel pump until the mating surfaces touch.
Do not use an impact tool for this purpose.
Models with M67 engine
First remove the top engine covers.
Pressure regulator

1. Give the nut.

2. Loosen the clamp (1) of the electrical harness and remove the nut (2).

3. Unscrew the bolts (1) and remove the cover (2).

4. Further removal and installation are carried out in the same way as removal and installation on the M57 engine (see paragraphs 3-5).
Fuel distributor

1. Remove the bolt (1) and move the vacuum line (2) to the side.

2. Disconnect the connector from the fuel distributor pressure regulator. Loosen the clamps (1) of the fuel lines and disconnect them from the fuel distributor. Disconnect the pressure (2) pipes and the return (4) pipes. Unscrew the bolts (5), slightly lift the fuel distributor and disconnect the connector from the pressure sensor (3).
3. Remove the fuel distributor.
