2. Remove the retaining ring.
At installation use a new lock ring.
3. Knock out the bolts.
When installing, do not forget to install backing plates.
4. Pull the protective cover off the hinge.
When installing, apply fresh grease to the CV joint on the side of the corrugated boot and the flange of the final drive gear. Insert the seal into the CV joint (1).
5. Remove the CV joint using a puller no. 26 1 070 or no. 26 1 110.
6. Degrease the ring gear and apply Loctite 648 locking compound.
Make sure that the sealant does not get on the raceway of the balls. Sample (1) under the seal must face the boot.
7. Install the CV joint and push it to the stop using mandrel no. 23 1 040 or no. 24 1 040.
