2. Remove the retaining ring.
Use a new snap ring when installing.
3. Knock out the bolts.
When installing, do not forget to install the backing plates.
4. Pull the protective cover off the hinge.
When installing, apply fresh grease to the CV joint from the side of the corrugated boot and the flange of the main gear drive pinion. Insert the seal (1) into the CV joint.
5. Remove the CV joint using puller No.26 1 070 or No.26 1 110.
6. Degrease the ring gear and apply Loctite 648 locking sealant to it.
Make sure that no sealant gets on the ball raceway. The recess (1) for the seal must face the boot.
7. Install the CV joint and push it on until it stops using tool No.23 1 040 or No.24 1 040.
