Brake system hydraulic master cylinder reservoir (BMW X3 E83)

Removal and installation the brake system hydraulic master cylinder reservoir



1. Remove the left bulkhead of the engine auxiliary mechanisms compartment.

2. Remove the check valve from the brake booster.

Note: After completing the work, it is necessary to bleed the brake system.


Note:
  • Pump out the brake fluid from the reservoir. The device used for this purpose must be used exclusively for pumping out brake fluid.
  • Do not reuse the pumped-out brake fluid.

3. Unlock and disconnect the connector (1).

4. Disconnect the supply line (2) of the clutch hydraulic drive.

5. Unscrew the fastening screw (3).

6. Remove the reservoir (4) from the master brake cylinder by moving it upwards in a vertical direction.

Tightening torque: 8±2 Nm.

Attention:


Attention:
  • Check the rubber plug in the master cylinder for damage and replace if necessary.
  • Place the reservoir vertically on the master cylinder.


5. Installation should be carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the above notes.
