Parking brake pads (BMW X3 E83)

Removal and installation parking brake pads



1. Remove the rear wheel brake disc.

2. Release the parking brake lever.


2. Release the parking brake lever.

3. Lock the adjustment device (ASZE).

4. Using tool 321030, press the stop (1) of the adjusting spring so that the retaining hooks (2) snap into the stop (1).

Note: When installing, it is necessary to unlock the adjustment device (ASZE).


5. Using a suitable screwdriver, fold the retaining hooks (2) outwards.

6. The retaining hooks (2) must be removed from the stop (1) of the adjusting spring.

7. Unhook the tension spring (1) using spring removal/installation pliers.

Note:
  • When installing, check and, if necessary, replace the tension spring (1).
  • Make sure that the adjusting screw (2) is installed correctly.
  • Apply a thin layer of grease to the threads of the bushing and screw.

Note: When installing, it is necessary to check and replace the tension spring (1) if necessary.


9. Turn the pins (1) using tool 344000 by 90° and remove them.

10. Remove the brake pads (2).

11. Installation should be carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the above notes.

12. Adjust the parking brake.
