Transverse suspension arm (BMW X3 E83)

Removal and installation the left or right wishbone



Note: If the wishbone was disconnected from the front suspension crossmember, the wheel alignment must be checked and adjusted after installation.


1. Remove the front wheel.

2. Disconnect the ride height sensor rod from the suspension arm.

3. Loosen the nut and remove the bolt forward.

4. Remove the holder together with the ride height sensor (only for the right side of the vehicle).

Note: The self-locking nut must be replaced during installation.


Tightening torque: Step 1: 100 Nm. Step 2: 90°±15°.

5. Loosen the nut only three thread turns so that the wishbone does not spring back uncontrollably…

6. Using tool 312240, disconnect the wishbone from the steering knuckle.



7. Loosen the nut and remove the suspension arm.

Note:
  • The tie rod end and steering column seat cones must be free of dirt and grease.
  • When installing, it is necessary to replace the self-locking nut.

Tightening torque: 80 Nm.

8. Installation should be carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the above notes.

9. Check and adjust the wheel alignment angles.

10. Perform steering wheel angle sensor correction.
