Hinge in the pivot bearing (BMW X3 E83)

Removal and installation the hinge in the swivel support



1. Remove the front wheel.

2. Loosen the nut (1), holding the fastening unit from turning if necessary.

3. Unscrew the screws (2).

4. Disconnect the rod with the lever hinge from the pivot support.

Note:
  • When installing, it is necessary to tidy up the threads in the swivel support.
  • The recess in the hinge, the hole in the rod and the hinge pin must be clean from dirt and grease.
  • Replace the screws.
  • Replace the self-locking nut.

Tightening torque (hinge to the pivot support): 60 Nm.

Tightening torque (hinge thrust): 80 Nm.

Please note: If the guide joint was knocked out using tools, it must be replaced.

5. Screw tool 334205 to the hinge.

6. Press the joint out of the pivot bearing using tool 334200.



Caution: Tighten the nut a few turns to prevent the guide joint from flying out uncontrollably when pressing it out.


7. Tighten the nut.

8. Using puller 312240, press the joint out of the rod.

9. Unscrew the nut and remove the hinge.

10. Installation should be carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the above notes.
