Power steering fluid reservoir (BMW X3 E83)

Removal and installation the power steering reservoir



Attention:
  • Risk of poisoning when ingesting oil.
  • Risk of injury if oil comes into contact with eyes or skin.


Attention:
  • Maintain exceptional cleanliness. Prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.
  • Seal the hydraulic lines with caps.


1. Pump out the hydraulic fluid from the tank and send it for disposal.

2. Remove the air filter housing.

Note: For modification with M4 or N52 engine.


3. Remove the intake manifold.

Note: For modification with N46 engine.


Caution: Cover the generator with something suitable to prevent hydraulic fluid from entering it.


4. Unscrew the screw (1).

Tightening torque: 4 Nm.

5. Remove the clamps, using tool 321260 if necessary.

Note: If necessary, lift and/or rotate the tank to access the clamps.


6. Disconnect the inlet and return lines from the tank.

7. Remove the tank by moving it upwards.

8. Installation should be carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the above notes.

9. Fill and bleed the hydraulic system.

10. Check the tightness of pipeline connections.
