Power steering inlet pipe (BMW X3 E83)

Replacing the power steering inlet pipe



Attention:
  • Maintain exceptional cleanliness. Prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.
  • Seal the hydraulic lines with caps.


1. Pump out the hydraulic fluid from the tank and send it for disposal.

2. Remove the front panel of the engine auxiliary mechanisms protection.

3. Remove the air filter housing.

4. Disconnect the reservoir from the console/body.


4. Disconnect the reservoir from the console/body.

5. Unfasten the clamp (1) and disconnect the inlet pipe (2) from the tank.

Note: When installing, ensure that the hydraulic lines are laid without tension and with sufficient clearance from adjacent parts.


6. Unfasten the inlet pipe all the way to the connection on the pump.

7. Unfasten the clamp (1) and disconnect the inlet pipe (2) from the power steering pump.


7. Unfasten the clamp (1) and disconnect the inlet pipe (2) from the power steering pump.



Note:
  • The marks (3) on the inlet pipe and pump must match.
  • If at least one of the marks is missing, then when installing the pipeline, it is necessary to ensure that there is no tension and that there is sufficient clearance from adjacent parts.


8. Installation should be carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the above notes.

9. Fill and bleed the hydraulic system.

10. Check the tightness of pipeline connections.
