Replacing the power steering return line
Attention:
- Risk of poisoning when ingesting oil.
- Risk of injury if oil comes into contact with eyes or skin.
Attention:
- Maintain exceptional cleanliness. Prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.
- Seal the hydraulic lines with caps.
Caution: Collect liquid in a suitable container and dispose of it safely.
1. Pump out the hydraulic fluid from the tank and send it for disposal.
2. Remove the soundproofing casing.
Note: For modification with 3.0 Sd engine.
3. Remove the front panel of the engine auxiliary mechanisms protection.
4. Remove the stiffener plate.
5. Partially detach the steering gear cover.
Note: For modification with diesel engine.
6. Remove the air filter housing together with the outside air supply duct.
Note: For modification with M54 or N52 engine.

7. Unscrew the quick-release coupling and plug the hole in the circuit using a suitable plug.
Note: When installing, ensure that the return line is laid without tension and with sufficient clearance from adjacent parts.
8. Disconnect the return line all the way to the connection on the steering gear.

9. Unscrew the FCD coupling and disconnect the return line.
10. Installation should be carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the above notes.
11. Fill and bleed the hydraulic system.
12. Check the tightness of the pipeline connections.
