Removal and installation or replacing the thermostat (M 54)
1. Remove the fan drive coupling with the impeller and fan casing.
2. Drain the coolant and send it for disposal.
Note: The coolant drain plug is located on the outlet side of the cylinder block near the 2nd cylinder.
Note:
- When installing, it is necessary to replace the drain plug sealing ring.
- Bleed the cooling system and check it for leaks.
Tightening torque: 25 Nm.
3. Release the clamps and disconnect the cooling system hoses.
4. Loosen the nut (1).
5. Loosen the thermostat housing mounting bolts and remove it.
Note: When installing, the sealing surfaces must be clean and free of grease.
Note:
- The thermostat is built into the housing and can only be replaced as an assembly.
- When installing, it is necessary to replace the sealing gasket (1).
6. Installation should be carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the above notes.
