General concept of engine design (BMW X5 E53)

The company "BMW AG" (Germany) uses four-stroke petrol and diesel engines as a power plant in the "X5" series cars with the "E-53" body, consisting of the following models:

• gasoline:
• in-line, 6-cylinder, model "M54" (3.0 l);
• V-shaped 9.8-cylinder, models "M62B44" (4.4 l);
• V-shaped, 8-cylinder, models "M62B46" (4.6 l);
• V-shaped, 8-cylinder, models "N62B48" (4.8 l).
• diesel:
• in-line, 6-cylinder, model "M57" (3.0 l);
• in-line, 6-cylinder, model "M57TU" (3.0 l).

Models "N62B48" and "M57TU" have been installed on cars since 2004 and replaced models "M62B46" and "M57". All engines can be removed from the car only upwards, using a special device and a lift (hoist) with a lifting capacity of more than 0.5 tons and with the car hood fully open using special devices.
