Cardan gear
Cardan transmission consists of two tubular shafts with an intermediate support attached to the bottom of the body, mounted on a ball bearing. The front propeller shaft is attached to the output shaft flange of the gearbox by means of an annular (on vehicles with manual transmission) or segment (on vehicles with automatic transmission) elastic coupling.
Front driveshaft
Shaft length «A» (see picture), mm:
- vehicles with 4-cylinder engines:
- with manual transmission («A» on the image): 711,3;
- with automatic transmission («IN» on the image): 582,9;
- cars with 6-cylinder engines:
- with manual transmission: 636.5;
- with automatic transmission: 510.5.
Rear driveshaft
Shaft length «b «(for all models), mm: 916.5.
The design of the rear propeller shaft on vehicles with 4 and 5 speed gearboxes is different.
The largest allowable imbalance of the rear propeller shaft when measuring 8 in its center, gf cm:
- at a crankshaft speed of 3000 rpm for vehicles with 4-cylinder engines: 10;
- at a crankshaft speed of 3250 rpm for vehicles with 6-cylinder engines: 10.
Intermediate bearing preload (towards the front of the car), mm: 2.
Rear axle
The rear axle is sprung, with a hypoid final drive. The final drive gear rotates in tapered roller bearings. The gear ratio of the final drive is marked on the front of the drive gear on the left.
Final drive gear brand: Klingelnberg or Gleason.
Heating temperature of the main gear driven gear during installation,°С: 80-100.
Bearings are installed on the drive gear without preheating.
By special order, a rear axle with a self-locking differential of the ZF brand of the Lok-O-Matic-DL-175 type was installed on cars.
Differential lock ratio,%: before April 1977: 40; since May 1977: 25 (marking «S25).
The moment of resistance to turning with a blocked semi-axial gear and another semi-axial gear driven into rotation, N·m: 30-50.
Disc thickness, mm:
- outdoor: 1, 9; 2.0; 2.1;
- internal: 2.0.
Rear axle oil
Refueling capacity of the rear axle housing, l: 0.95.
Oil used: SAE 90 hypoid oil.
Oil change interval: after the first 1,000 km of run, then every 30,000 km of run.
Rear wheel drive
The drive of each wheel consists of two ball joints of equal angular velocities and a shaft.
Maximum angle of the wheel drive shaft, degrees: 18.
The gap between the side surface of the hinge and the flange when measured at a radius of 25 mm, mm: 0.08.
The largest allowable displacement, mm:
- hinge:±6;
- semiaxes:±12.
The amount of grease put in the hinge body during assembly, g: 80 (For example. Shell Retinax AM).
The recommended brand of adhesive used when installing the protective cover of the hinge: Bostik 475.
Recommended brand of sealant used when installing the hinge cover: Curil K.
Tightening torques of the main threaded connections, kgf·m
- Nut of bolts of fastening of an elastic coupling: on cars with a manual transmission: 6,9—7,7; on cars with automatic transmission: 4.4-4.9.
- Nut of bolts for fastening the propeller shaft flange to the gearbox flange: 6.9-7.7.
- Nut of fastening of a plug of a forward cardan shaft (M12x1.5): 9,7—10,7 (pre-coat the threaded end of the shaft with Loctite 270).
- Nuts of bolts of fastening of a cross-beam of an intermediate support to a body floor: 2,2-2,4.
- Nuts of bolts of fastening of a crankcase of the back bridge to an arm: 8,1—9.2.
- Nut of a bolt of fastening of a case of the back bridge to an arm: 8.1—9.2.
- Nut of a bolt of fastening of a swinging support to a case of the back bridge: 8,1-9,2.
- Bolts of fastening of a cover to a crankcase of the back bridge (M10): 4,4—4,9.
- Filler and control hole plug (M22x1.5): 5,1—6,1.
- Bolts of fastening of a conducted gear wheel of the main transfer to a differential box: 8,7—10,2 (Pre-apply Loctite 270 to the threads).
- Nuts for fastening the flange to the drive gear: not less than 15.3.
