The main part of the relay is located in the fuse box on the left side of the engine compartment.
On the cover of the box is a diagram of the location of the relay.
- K1 - Additional fan relay, stage 1
- K2 - Fanfare relay
- KZ - high beam relay
- K4 - Low beam relay, rear humane lights
- K5 - Relay for heated seats, sliding roof panel, power windows
- K6 - Additional fan relay, stage 2.
- K7 - Heater fan relay, electric exterior mirror
- K8 - Fog lamp relay
- K9 - Rear fog lamp relay (France. Switzerland)
- K10 - Relay of the control unit for intensive cleaning of headlights
Pull the relay out of the block.
First, use a voltage tester to verify that there is voltage at terminal 30 of the relay block. To do this, connect the probe to ground, and insert the other end into the socket of terminal 30. If the probe's LED lights up, voltage is present. If there is no voltage, look for open circuit from battery positive to terminal 30 using the wiring diagram.
Make a jumper from a piece of wire, stripping its ends.
Connect this jumper to terminal 30 (+) battery (voltage is always present) with terminal 87 of the relay block. The location of the relay contacts is indicated on the relay and on its block.
If, for example, when the jumper is inserted, the main beam headlights light up, then the corresponding relay is defective.
If the high beam headlights do not come on, use the electrical circuit diagram to find and repair an open circuit from terminal 87 to the main headlights.
If required, install a new relay.
