Removal and installation an electric window lifter (BMW 3 Series E46)

Removal



1. Remove the door trim and door cover at the rear, refer to the relevant section.

2. Loosen the screws securing the glass to the window regulator, move the glass completely upwards and secure it with two wedges from the inside.

3. Unscrew nuts "2" and "3" securing the rear window lifter bus "1". First remove the sealant from nut "3".

4. Remove the rear window regulator rail inward and down and place it in the door.

5. Cut off cable clamp "1".

6. Remove clamp "2".

7. Disconnect connector "3".

8. Unscrew nuts "4" and "5".

9. Remove the front window regulator rail "6" with the electric motor "7" inward and downwards and place it at the bottom of the door.

10. Remove the window regulator from the door. First remove the front part through the hole in the door leaf.

Installation



11. Insert the window regulator into the door and move it with your finger through the hole in the door leaf.

12. Tighten the window regulator to a torque of 8 N·m. Apply sealant to the lower nut at the back.

13. Connect the connector to the electric motor.

14. Secure the cable guide clamp to the door leaf.

15. Secure the top guide with the new cable clamp to the door leaf.



16. Fix the glass with screws and adjust, refer to the relevant section.

17. Install the door trim, refer to the relevant section.
