Removal and installation, adjustment of the tailgate — limousine

Removal

If you need to re-install the old rear door, mark the position of the arrow heads with a felt-tip pen before unscrewing the bolts, so that it will be easier to align the door later.

The electrical wiring of the tailgate does not have detachable connections. Remove the wiring harness of the tailgate, having previously released the clamps 1 and removed the trim. There is a special tool for removing the clamps

Installation

Screw the tailgate back on.

Route and connect the electrical wires for the reversing lights and central locking system along the door.

Secure the trim to the clamps, replacing the damaged clamps,

Adjust the tailgate.

Fitting

Fitting

Loosen the locking bracket or, if necessary, unscrew the bracket. If present, first remove the locking bracket cover.

See figure W - 4898

Loosen the hinge mounting bolts.

Close the tailgate and align it with the body.

Tighten the bolts.

See figure W - 4899

To adjust the height, screw in the left and right stop buffers completely.

Lightly tighten the locking bracket bolts so that the bracket can still move.

Close the tailgate. Move the locking bracket so that the tailgate is 1 mm below the side walls when closed. Tighten the bolts.

Turn both stop buffers so that the tailgate closes with a slight tension and is level with the tank walls when closed.
