Removal and installation the engine compartment hood (BMW 5 Series E34)

Removal

Open the engine compartment hood.



After removing the clamps, remove the inner lining of the engine compartment hood.



To release the inner lining spacer clips, use a narrow screwdriver to pull out the upper part (core). Then pull out the clip.



Disconnect the washer jet hoses and plug them.

Disconnect the electrical wires for heating the washer jets from the washer jets, remove the wires and hoses from the hood.





Press the metal clamps on the left and right sides with a screwdriver, pull out the fingers. At the same time, have an assistant hold the hood.



Unscrew the 2 hood bolts and remove the hood with an assistant.

Installation

Install the hood with an assistant. Screw in the 2 hood bolts.

Insert the right and left hood mounts and secure them with clamps.

Lay and connect the hose and electrical wires for the washer jets.

Close the engine compartment hood and check the position of the hood in relation to the front fenders. If necessary, adjust the engine compartment hood.

Insert the inner hood trim and secure it with clips. Replace damaged or missing clips.
