Lifting a car (BMW 5 Series E39)

            0

During various maintenance and repair work, the car, if it is not on a lift, must be supported on 2 or 4 reliable stands (trestles). In no case should work be carried out under the car if it is supported only by a car or garage jack. Danger to life!

Raise the vehicle only when unloaded on a level and solid surface.

Wheels that remain on the floor when the vehicle is lifted should be blocked from rolling forward and backward using wedges. Do not rely on the parking brake, which must be released for some work.

Support the car with jack stands so that one leg on the side faces outward if necessary.

Caution: Using suitable rubber or wooden pads when lifting the vehicle can help avoid damage to the bodywork.

Place the car jack so that its entire base rests on the platform, and the head of the jack enters the rectangular recess of the lifting point when lifting.

After this, rotate the jack handle and lift the car until the corresponding wheel is lifted off the platform. Support the car with jack stands.
