Pedal brake test (overpressure and vacuum test) (BMW X3 E83)

Attention:
  • Testing with excess pressure and vacuum (leak test) must be carried out with the engine off.
  • Observe safety precautions when lifting a vehicle.

Note: Check both brake circuits:
  • 1. Contour of the front wheel brake mechanisms.
  • 2. Contour of the rear wheel brake mechanisms.


1) Loosen the air bleed screw, connect the test pressure gauge and bleed the air.

After 2 minutes, the pressure should drop by no more than 8%.

Note: Performed on both brake circuits.


1) Move the stop back until the test pressure in the brake system is 2-5 bar.

2) Make sure that the vehicle and the measuring device are motionless, as any shaking will distort the measurement results.

3) During the 5-minute test, the pressure value should not change.

4) If the pressure drops significantly, check all rubber parts.

5) After completing the check, bleed the calipers or wheel brake cylinders.
