1. Brake fluid is poisonous. Never suck out brake fluid by mouth through a hose. Store brake fluid in a container that cannot be accessed by accident.
2. Brake fluid is corrosive. Avoid contact with paintwork. If this occurs, immediately wipe off the liquid and rinse with water.
3. Brake fluid is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs fluid in the air. Therefore, brake fluid should only be stored in closed containers.
4. Brake fluid that has already been used once in the braking system must not be reused. When removing air from the brake system, only new brake fluid should also be used.
5. The type of brake fluid is given in Specifications.
Consult BMW for the possibility of using other brake fluids.
6. Brake fluid must not come into contact with mineral oils. Minor traces of mineral oil make the brake fluid unusable and lead to failure of the brake system. Plugs and cuffs of the brake system are damaged if they come into contact with agents containing mineral oils. It is impossible to use rags soaked in mineral oils to clean the elements of the system.
7. Brake fluid should be changed every two years, regardless of mileage. It is recommended to replace the brake fluid after the cold season.
Brake fluid is a product that must not be discarded or disposed of with household waste. Local authorities provide information at places where it can be disposed of.
