When working on brake pipes, care must be taken not to damage the plastic coating. Brake pipes are mainly supplied as pipes without union nuts. Pay attention to the size of the connecting thread. Put a union nut on the end of the pipe and flange the end of the pipe with the special tool. Pay attention to the design of the pipe end of the pipeline used. When bending, the old brake pipe is used as a sample. To avoid compression and bending of the pipe, use a special tool for bending.
The operation of lifting and placing the vehicle on stands is dangerous! Therefore, before carrying out the operation, read Section Jacking and towing
1. Raise and place the car on stands
2. Slightly press the brake pedal and lock it in this position. To do this, insert a wooden block between the seat and the brake pedal, slide the seat back and then forward again. Thus, after undocking the brake pipelines, the leakage of fluid from the reservoir and the ingress of air into the system is excluded.
3. Disconnect the brake pipeline in the area of the union nut.
4. If necessary, plug the pipeline leading to the master cylinder.
5. Lay the new brake pipeline along the route of the old one. Tighten the cap nuts to 18 Nm.
6. Remove air from the brake system, refer to Section Removal of air from the brake system.
- Are the brake lines secured?
- Is the brake hose secured in the holder?
- Are the bleed fittings tight?
- Has sufficient brake fluid been added?
- With the engine running, check for leaks. To do this, press the brake pedal with a force of 200-300 N (20-30 kg) within 10 s. The pedal must not loosen. Check all connections for tightness.
Brake fluid must never be spilled or disposed of with household waste. Local authorities inform drivers about the places of its possible disposal.
