- do not suck brake fluid out of the container through a hose;
- brake fluid damages paintwork and promotes corrosion;
- brake fluid is hygroscopic (absorbs moisture from the air) and it should be stored in sealed containers;
- brake fluid cannot be reused.
- the combination of brake fluid with even traces of mineral oil will render it inoperative;
- brake fluid should be replaced every two years, recommended in spring;
- used (drained) brake fluid must be disposed of;
- if brake fluid comes into contact with your skin, wash it off with plenty of soapy water;
- if it gets on the mucous membrane or in the eyes, immediately rinse them with clean running water and seek medical attention.
The hydraulic fluid used in the clutch drive system is technical fluid type SAE J 1703 DOT 4 (Duckhams Uiversal Brake und Clutch Fluid).
Certified liquids are:
- BMW Bremsfbssigkeit, DOT4;
- Castrol Disc Brake Fluid, DOT4;
- ITT Original-ATE-DOT4, SL;
- Pentosin Tyr 9368, DOT4;
- Shell Brake Fluid, DOT4;
- Veedol Disc Brake Fluid. DOT4.
