Removal

Due to limited space, the right engine mount must be removed using a tool. To do this, the engine must be lifted with a crane.

23. Remove the air box, refer to Section Removal and installation the air intake box.

24. Remove the oxygen sensors from both exhaust manifolds, refer to Section Removal and installation the oxygen sensor.

25. Loosen the mounting nuts and remove the intake pipe from the exhaust manifold, refer to Section Removal and installation of the exhaust system.

25. Loosen the mounting nuts and remove the intake pipe from the exhaust manifold, refer to Section…

26. Lift the engine with a crane by the front eye. If you don't have a crane, thread a cable through the eye. Insert a strong pipe under the cable and place it on two supports.

Mount the BMW 00 0 200 tool on the left and right side of the wing supports and secure them with bolts. Another tool is also available: KLANN No. KL-0205-3US.

27. Raise the engine with a lift approximately 5 mm to relieve the engine mounts.

28. Remove the front end reinforcement, refer to Section Removal and installation the front suspension beam.

29. Unscrew the bolts securing the right engine support with the bracket from the body and engine.

30. Disconnect first the front and then the rear exhaust manifold from the cylinder head.

Installation

31. Clean the sealing surfaces on the exhaust manifold and cylinder head. Always replace the sealing gasket with a new one.

32. Lubricate the threads of the exhaust manifold mounting studs with high-temperature copper grease.

33. Secure the exhaust manifold with new self-locking copper nuts, tightening them crosswise from the inside out to the torque specified in the Specifications.

34. Secure the exhaust pipe with a new seal to a torque of 30 Nm on the exhaust manifold.

35. Secure the right engine support and bracket to the torques specified in the Specifications. Lower the engine, remove the crane.

36. Install the front reinforcement of the vehicle, refer to Section Removal and installation the front suspension beam.

37. Install the oxygen sensors on both exhaust manifolds, refer to Section Removal and installation the oxygen sensor.
