Caution: Make sure the engine is completely cool before working on the exhaust system.
Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.
On models where the air cleaner is located on the exhaust manifold side, remove the air cleaner housing assembly and/or air flow sensor to create adequate working space.
Disconnect and move the spark plug wire harness to the side.
Mark and then disconnect or remove any wires, hoses, fittings, etc. that interfere with manifold removal. Be sure to disconnect the oxygen sensor where used.
Jack up the vehicle and support it securely on axle stands. Working underneath the vehicle, separate the exhaust outlet pipe from the manifold. Apply a rust-softening compound to the joint to facilitate removal.
Lower the vehicle to the ground. Working from the ends of the manifold toward the center, gradually loosen the mounting nuts and remove them.
Move the manifold away from the cylinder head, then remove the old gaskets.

Caution: Be very careful not to damage the oxygen sensor.
Clean the gasket contact surfaces of the cylinder head and manifold and ensure that the exhaust manifold strut threads are not damaged.
Inspect the manifold for warping, cracks, signs of corrosion, and other damage. Repair or replace components as necessary.
When installing the manifold, use new gaskets. Moving from the center to the ends of the manifold, gradually tighten the nuts securing it to the cylinder head to the required tightening torque. Also tighten the nuts securing the exhaust outlet pipe to the manifold.
Then install in the reverse order of removal.
