Car radio — removal and installation (BMW 3 Series E46)
Note: The removal and installation procedures apply to standard equipment installed by BMV. These procedures will differ for non-standard equipment.
Removal
Car radio mounted on the front panel
1. Using a plastic or wooden tool, carefully remove the trim around the glove box on the passenger side, located above the car radio.
2. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal (see chapter 5A).
3. Remove the two screws and remove the car radio from the front panel (Fig. 18.3).

4. Disconnect the electrical wiring connectors from the rear of the car radio, remembering their location. Note that the main connector has a lock (Fig. 18.4).

CD player
5. Remove the left luggage compartment trim panel (see chapter 11, paragraph 27).
6. Remove the four screws and take out the player (Fig. 18.6). Disconnect the electrical wiring connector from the unit.

Amplifier
7. Amplifier (if it exists) is installed behind the left luggage compartment trim panel. Press the button and remove the first aid kit trim panel.
8. Remove the tool tray.
9. Disconnect the electrical wiring connectors from the amplifier, unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the amplifier (Fig. 18.9).

Installation
10. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
