Make sure there are marks indicating the relative position of the bipod relative to the bipod shaft. If necessary, apply marks to the bipod with a punch.
After unscrewing the steering knuckle mounting nut, remove the knuckle using the BMW 7027 puller.
Remove the steering gear housing cover and the steering knuckle shaft. Remove the steering knuckle shaft with the roller from the housing.

After unscrewing the mounting bolts, remove the cover of the worm shaft thrust bearing, take out the adjusting linings, the outer ring of the thrust bearing and knock out the worm shaft together with the bearing separators with a hammer with a plastic striker.
Remove the oil seals from the steering gear housing.
Press out the outer ring of the upper worm shaft bearing by resting the mandrel against two recesses in the crankcase housing.
Using a Kukko puller with an internal expander, press the steering gear shaft needle bearings out of the steering gear housing.
Remove the steering gear housing cover from the steering arm shaft by loosening the lock nut and turning the adjusting screw completely out. Remove and save the guide ring 4.
