Remove the cotter pin and unscrew the nut securing the middle tie rod ball joint to the pitman arm. Use the BMW 6082 puller to press the ball joint out of the pitman arm socket.
Apply paint to the steering shaft to mark the depth of its entry into the flexible coupling flange.
Loosen nut 1 (see photo) and remove bolt 2. Slide the elastic coupling up the steering column shaft.

Loosen the bolts securing the steering gear housing to the front suspension crossmember and remove the steering gear housing downwards.
